Referring to the FOI publication from 20th September 2024, the document details the aim to
recruit 52 paramedics in the East Region. I would like to know how many jobs were offered
after interview and how many people were actually given jobs. (Assuming this number will
not be equal as job offers that had been given in June 2024 were retracted in October 2024).- Response
It is important to note - The projections quoted in the publication on the 20th of September
are for the 2024/2025 financial year and there are many factors taken into consideration
including availability and location of vacancies.
The East Region covers Edinburgh, East Lothian, Mid Lothian; Borders and West Lothian;
Tayside; Fife and Forth Valley.
There have been 49 offers made to Newly Qualified Paramedics (NQP’s), 36 of those NQP’s
have already started and a further 13 are due to start Feb/Mar 2025 subject to completion of
all pre-employment checks. The shortfall of 3 from the planned 52 were recruited internally
(transfers of qualified Paramedics from other regions/areas in the Service)
