Can you tell me please how you would give assistance at height? Also what your expectations would be of a scaffolding company in the way of a rescue plan? Would you expect for the company to bring the casualty to ground level before you give assistance please?
- Response
The Scottish Ambulance Service does not ‘rescue’ patients, this would be a role for the Scottish Fire & Rescue Services.
However, our Special Operations Response Team (SORT) have a safe working at heights capability. This allows us to put paramedics from this team at height to treat and stabilise a patient prior to them being moved. The ‘rescue’ of the patient from height would be undertaken by the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service teams or, if available, with the site operator using their safe system of work.
