Can you please provide the following information.
- The number of ambulances written off due to road traffic collisions in the last five years.
- Can you break this down year by year for 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
- Can you also give the total number of reported collisions involving ambulances that did NOT result in them being written off with figures for each of these years.
- For number 3 above, can you provide the total cost for relevant repairs and break this down by each of the five years again

Please see the number of times an ambulance has been written off for each year requested.

- Can you also give the total number of reported collisions involving ambulances that did NOT result in them being written off with figures for each of these years.
The term ‘collision’ includes all contact with third party vehicles, including minor scrapes to wing mirrors when passing on narrow roads, Scottish Ambulance Service vehicles damaged when left unattended at a scene and all major junction collisions.

This is information not held – the costs are recorded in such a way that we cannot distinguish between maintenance costs and repair costs. It is for this reason we have applied section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002.
