Making a Freedom of Information Request
All the information that Scottish Ambulance service regularly publishes is included in our guide to information (Hyperlink to document coming soon)
Under Freedom of Information not all information will be released. Some information you request may be exempt from release
These exemptions are listed in the Act and include:
Personal information
Requests for your personal information/health records would be covered under the Data Protection Act and can be made here
Information requested identifying another person
Information already published
If information is already published, we do not have to provide it to you. In our response to you we will tell you where you can find what you are looking for
Information not held
Sometimes we just don’t have what you are looking for. We will let you know that and if we can give advice on where you may find the information.
If some or all of the information you request is exempt this will be explained when we respond to your request.

What if I am unhappy with the information received?
A review can be requested within 40 days of the response first being issued.
A review must be undertaken by a representative of the Service providing the information that was not originally involved in the request.
Reviews must be conducted within 20 working days of receipt of the request.
What if I am unhappy with the review?
If the original decision is issued and you are still unhappy, you may contact the Scottish Information Commissioner for advice on how to appeal.
The Information Commissioner then decides whether the information must be:
- provided
- original decision is upheld and requester is advised of outcome.
