Colleagues of a paramedic based at Cumbernauld Ambulance Station, have been braving the shave and dying their hair to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Maggie’s Centre.

Linda McTaggart was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the end of September this year and has recently started treatment.

Linda said: “When I was told I was going to lose my hair I didn’t want to wait until it fell out, so I decided to dye my short white hair pink before shaving it all over a week later.

“Afterwards I sent a message to all staff saying if they wanted to see the photos, they would have to make a charitable donation!”

Not only did her colleagues donate, but many and their families also followed her lead in either shaving or dying their hair. Linda’s daughter, Aimee, along with two other colleagues donated their hair to the Little Princess Trust who make real hair wigs for children with cancer.

Through Linda’s charitable lead, £2,500 has been raised so far for Cancer Research UK and Maggie’s Centre and her daughter Aimee has raised £1,500 for the Little Princess Trust.

Linda has been blown away by the support she has received, she said: “Everyone has gone above and beyond to support me. I am so thankful to my colleagues across the West region who have raised money and offered kind words of support during this difficult time. The messages of support I have received have been invaluable in keeping me positive about the future.”
