Join the Scottish Ambulance Service - help our Infection and Prevention Control
Join the Scottish Ambulance Service and Make a Difference in Infection Prevention and Control!
Are you passionate about maintaining high standards of environmental cleanliness?
The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team is looking for enthusiastic members of the public to get involved in the National Cleaning Services Specification Monitoring (NCSS) across ambulance stations and vehicles in the North region. This is your chance to play an active role in supporting the quality and safety of our services!
What’s Involved?
As a Public Involvement volunteer, you will accompany a member of the IPC team and the IPC Auditor during NCSS audits. Your role is to observe the procedures and processes followed during the audits, ensuring compliance with national standards. Don't worry, you won’t be conducting the audits yourself—your observations and feedback will be key to improving and evaluating our cleaning services.
We will provide comprehensive training and full support to prepare you for this role. This role is unpaid, however we will pay agreed upon expenses. Your insights will help shape the future of cleanliness standards within the Scottish Ambulance Service.
What Can You Expect?
• Hands-On Experience: Visit ambulance stations as part of a team and observe real-time audits.
• Collaboration: Share your experiences and feedback directly with the IPC team after each visit.
• Flexibility: Participate in a minimum of five visits with other public involvement members, taking place between now and January 2026. The first visit will include training to prepare you for your role.
Additional Opportunities
In addition to station visits, you’ll have the opportunity to attend quarterly Infection Prevention and Control Committee meetings, currently held online via Microsoft Teams. These sessions, lasting about 90 minutes, offer a fascinating glimpse into the work of the IPC team and how your involvement contributes to their mission. Training and any necessary equipment will be provided.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the vital work of the Scottish Ambulance Service and make a real difference in your community. If you’re interested in helping us uphold the highest standards of infection prevention and control, we’d love to hear from you!
