BBC's Paramedics on Scene gets greenlight for two more seasons
We are pleased to announce Paramedics On Scene has been renewed for a two further series by BBC Scotland.
Following strong performance for series five, which recently concluded, the show has been recommissioned for series six and series seven. Filming for series six is already under way across Scotland.
SAS CEO Michael Dickson said, “We are delighted Paramedics on Scene has been commissioned for a further two seasons and we look forward to working with our partners at Firecrest who we have a fantastic working relationship with.
“Paramedics on Scene is a great and authentic showcase of the work our staff do each day across the country and throughout the years we have highlighted several departments, including our Special Operations Response Team (SORT), Air Ambulance, Ambulance Control Centres, and Advanced Practitioners in Critical Care, alongside our emergency crews from the Borders right up to Thurso.
“It’s great to hear the series continues to be a ratings success at a national level. We are proud of all our staff and this allows more people to get to see the amazing patient-centred care they provide.”
Firecrest Films’ Head of Documentaries, Mick McAvoy said, “It’s incredibly exciting to receive a double-commission for Paramedics on Scene, as it is a remarkable series that is truly epic in scope, following medics across the nation as they race to help people in remote islands, inner cities and rugged highlands.”
“I look forward to working with a new team of talented production personnel as they hone their skills whilst capturing dramatic and emotional stories that give a unique and insightful perspective on the amazing work of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
Tony Nellany, Commissioning Editor at BBC Scotland, said, “Paramedics on Scene provides viewers with a very special insight into the work of the Scottish Ambulance Service, alongside human interest stories from across Scotland. As this award recognises, it is also a pivotal cog in our strategy for developing behind the scenes talent in the documentary sector here. And we’re delighted to be commissioning more of this powerful and popular documentary series.”
