The sixth season of popular show Paramedics on Scene, the award-winning observational series documenting the work of the Scottish Ambulance Service, is back for another year on BBC Scotland.

The season will feature frontline ambulance crews from Aberdeen, Melrose, Perth, and Livingston, alongside SAS’s Ambulance Control Centres (ACC) in the West and North. The Service’s Special Operations Response Teams (SORT) and Air Ambulance Service also return.
The first episode, which aired last night, featured the remarkable story of an Edinburgh man, 85, who was trapped under his floor for three days without food or water before being assisted by emergency services. Melrose crews also attended to a patient who has overdosed on drugs.

SAS Chief Executive Michael Dickson said: “We are delighted Paramedics on Scene is back for another season and can’t wait for the people of Scotland to see the daily challenges our staff face from crews to ACC staff.

“They can see how the whole Service operates from a 999 call, how ambulances are dispatched and the critical clinical response. We’d like to thank our valued partners at Firecrest who do a brilliant job of bringing the show to life. We look forward to working with them as filming for the next season gets underway.”

Firecrest Films Head of Documentaries, Mick McAvoy said: “It's hugely exciting to see the new series hit our screens. Over the last year we have been following the amazing work of the Scottish Ambulance Service and, thanks to the all the medics and crew who took part, I think we have been able to produce the best series yet.

“Over the course of ten episodes, viewers will get a dramatic and fascinating insight into the challenges that paramedics face each day and see the amazing work they do to help those in need.”

Season Six of Paramedics on Scene is on BBC Scotland at 9pm every Tuesday and is also available on BBC iPlayer.

The next episode features a toddler in Ayr who suffers a seizure in front of his frightened parents, and paramedics in Glasgow provide urgent care to the survivor of a house fire who has suffered from serious burns.
