International medical students visit ScotSTAR

27 students from Italy, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Greece, and the UK visited SAS’s ScotSTAR base in Glasgow as part of a summer school programme in critical care.

The group of mainly 4th and 5th year medical students were introduced to the work of ScotSTAR and given a lecture on the principles of pre-hospital critical care, and transport and retrieval medicine.

ScotSTAR members then ran practical workshops including a pre-hospital trauma scenario, a session on the transport of neonatal patients, and were also given the challenge of conducting a 'medical procedure'

Helimed 5 made a well-timed appearance outside the window, and the students reported the visit being the highlight of their week in Scotland so far!
