We are seeking applications from community minded people wishing to join the Scottish Ambulance Service as part of a Team on this Island Community.

The Role
This is a key role in Tiree, providing response for urgent and critical patients. Employed by the Service on an on-call basis you will work on a rota basis to support our crew in responding to some of our most urgent calls.

The Person
Whilst previous medical experience is desirable it is not essential as full training will be provided. However, to be successful you will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm to learn as well as drive to deliver high quality care to patients in a rural community. You must also be able to demonstrate good communication and team working skills. For selection, applicants will be required to undertake a fitness assessment and interview and any offer will be subject to satisfactory joining of the PVG Scheme through Disclosure Scotland.

The post holder must hold a standard UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points and, must reside within Tiree.

The Training
Although this is not a fully qualified clinical role, you will still undertake a comprehensive training programme so as to ensure you can deliver the highest level of care to our patients. As well as class room based and practical training, you may also undertake clinical placements in hospital and other ambulance locations to support this learning and enhance your exposure to the clinical environment.

Please note - Training will be delivered by the Scottish Ambulance Service’s Education and Professional Development Team and whilst some of the training modules will be delivered locally, it may be necessary for you to attend some modules at other locations.

The exact hours and pattern of work will be discussed at interview; however, you will be required to submit your invoice at the end of every month, and you will be entitled to retainer allowance every month.

All uniform and personal protective equipment will be provided. Although a vehicle whilst on duty will be provided, staff should have access to their own transport.
