Before making a booking
Before you make a booking, please consider the following:
- Can the patient be supported by family or friends
- Do they have a mobility car
- Can they use alternative providers
- Have you looked at Traveline Scotland, which has a Healthcare journey planner
Please remember to avoid raising the patient’s expectations – not everyone is eligible for ambulance support
Before contacting us, make sure you have:
- Patient’s CHI number
- Patient’s full name, home address, date of birth and phone number (either patient or responsible person)
- A knowledge of the patient’s level of mobility
- A knowledge of any access issues at the patient's house
- Date and time of the appointment
- Hospital and clinic the patient is attending
- Type of appointment (for example, outpatient)
- Any specific needs, such as language barrier, hard of hearing, infectious disease, mental illness)
